7 inch rayon and silk scarf. There are slight hints of purple in places in this scarf. This whole series will be available at Tamarack. I will continue to load pictures of the scarves that have been shipped to Tamarack. A new series, that will be available at the next two shows Randolph County Community Arts Center (Dec 2 &3) and Pricketts Fort (Dec 9, 10 &11), will come up next week.

Thanks for looking!

7 inch rayon, silk and cotton scarf. The blends in this piece are gradual. From our mountain ridge log cabin one can see the colors on the trees beginning to change, like the colors in this scarf. Autumn is upon us.

Here is a 7 inch rayon, silk and cotton scarf.
Inspired by the changing of fall colors. This scarf is woven to be doubled and tucked. Of course, you could double wrap it for a more casual look. I wish you could feel how soft these works are! Guess you will have to attend a gallery or show I am in to see for yourself!

Thanks for looking in!

Saturday September 17, I will be at Art Festival, Buckhannon, WV. The festival will run from 11am until 7pm. I will have 16 new pieces to show in my booth. It is supposed to be a fairly nice day. There is a fall chill in the air, so my hope is people will need a new scarf to help with that chill! Come on by and check it out!

Complementary colors. I wove a series of scarves yesterday. The warp was dyed with deep purple, chartreuse, light green, and amber. The weft was yellow and rust silk, and chartreuse, light green and amber cotton. The result was so fun. The colors really played against each other. Rick and I both agreed it looked much like my approach to the meditation paintings I have done.

SO EXCITED TO DO MORE! When the scarves are finished, I will post a picture.

New work ready to be pressed and steamed.

I did my first Trade Show this past weekend. West Virginia Made Association produced the event in Flatwoods, WV. I will be there again next year.

This coming weekend I will have a booth set up at the Buckhannon, WV Fall Art Festival. It will be a beautiful day Saturday, so do come by and see my new work. I will add to my booth three new shawls, and eight new scarves. Fall colors are emerging! Hope I see you there.

August 13. From 10-6 I will be at Augusta Festival. Elkins City Park in Elkins, West Virginia. All of my newest work will be with me in my booth. Come and see the scarves and shawls. They range in size from 7 and 9 inches wide for scarves, and 15 to 18 inches wide for shawls. The scarves range in length from 45 inches to 88 inches - especially nice for the folded double look we all love! Shawls range from 80 to 90 inches in length. I am excited to share my summer work with all of you! PS. I will have one of my looms with me so you can watch me weave too!

New scarf - just off the loom. Rayon, silk and cotton. Not even sure of the measurements. With this one, I worked it in Ms and Os but held the vertical stripes throughout the scarf. The subtle color changes occur because of the warp painting.

Corporate Water Affects. 2010.
Essential Peace, an art installation first installed in Fredericksburg, VA 2009. It is a contemplative space reflecting on peace and space. It is 9 feet tall, 9 feet wide and twelve feet deep. It is interactive in that you can walk through it, sit under it.
I have been weaving since 1993. I grew up in a house built in 1812. Appreciating things from the past and connecting to tradition has always been important to me. I weave using traditional techniques, but apply my own sense of color to the textiles I create. I hand-dye and paint into the natural fibers I use. Each piece is a unique creation because I do not preplan the actual weaving, rather, I approach the work in much the same way a painting is done.

I weave items for the body- scarves, shawls and blankets, as well as, wall hangings, and large scale installation pieces.

Thank you for showing an interest in my work.
